Atlanta Blood Pressure Study

(Emory University) Up to $150

IS YOUR BLOOD PRESSURE HIGHER THAN 120/80?

We are looking to recruit people for a research study who have high blood pressure. The purpose of this study is to determine if insomnia worsens cognitive function (a person's ability to think, e.g. memory) and affect (how a person is feeling, e.g. depression) in people who have high blood pressure. 

WHO CAN TAKE PART? 
Adults, 18-60 years of age who have higher than normal blood pressure 

WHO CANNOT PARTICIPATE? 
Current use of certain prescriptions and over the counter medications, known history of a sleep disorder (other than insomnia), cardiovascular disease, diabetes or night shift- workers.

2 STUDY VISITS ARE INVOLVED 

VISIT #1 

A 3 hour visit at the Emory School of Nursing (1520 Clifton Rd NE, Atlanta, GA, 30322) involving: 

Blood Pressure measurements, Questionnaires and cognitive tests, training on completing a daily sleep diary and the use of a wrist activity monitor.

VISIT #2 

A 2 hour visit to our research facility at Emory University Hospital (1364 Clifton Rd NE Atlanta, GA 30322) involving: 

Blood Pressure measurements, ultrasound picture of an artery in your arm and blood work.

You will be compensated up to $150 for your time
